About the Book

From a cave deep in Texas, flying where ever he may please. Over the bog by the lake and up through the tress, Flappity whirls and twirls for bugs in the sky. This Mexican free tail bat doesn’t think of how and why, but every bird around thinks they know the best way to fly!

Ever been told how you do something is all wrong? You’re not alone. Flappity bat is facing just that. What will he do with the judgment they threw? Will he get discouraged and stop being himself? Where will he find the courage to continue? Will he be angry or courteous? Befuddled or curious? What will he learn about his place and his purpose?

About the Author

Having narrowly escaped life as a rapper, our man opted for the next most populous and appreciative audience of absurd nonsense words and near rhymes, children. (There’s more than Flappity afoot in the near future!) Lacking the natural apparatus for flying nor being able to breathe underwater nor the ability to hold his breath for more than sixty seconds, the author enjoys writing about creatures who can. When not ruining perfectly good illustrations and charismatic characters with asymmetrical rhythms and poignant plot lines, he indulges in familial connections, perspicacious compadres, various confections, libations, fabrications, contests and wayfaring by land, sea or air. Jessica has loved art from an early age, pursuing local art contests, while drawing and painting on whatever was at hand. After graduating design school, Jessica sold artwork in local coffee shops and small studios in her free time. With a love for whimsy and nature, the world of Flappity was a perfect fit, choosing to illustrate this story with a blend of watercolors and colored pencils, materials readily available to most children. Jessica lives in the Texas Hill Country with her husband and two daughters.
