MIRACLES, CHRISTIANITY AND PEACE

We will start this chapter, with the start of serious trouble in the world. This would be Satan’s rebellion in heaven and his being cast down to earth. We read in Luke 10:17-20. As we all know, as the chosen people were settling their promised land, Moses gave them the Ten Commandments, the book of the Law, a list of foods that were safe to eat and a list of those that were not; and a list of occult practices they were absolutely forbidden to follow, as found in Deuteronomy 18:9-13. The forbidden practices were basically the religion of Baalism and other corrupt laws and practices of the Land of Canaan and settlers within it. Moses also had to teach the how to tell a false prophet from a prophet of God. One of the most famous corrupt, but not false prophets in the Bible was the prophet Balaam. The story of Balaam and his Donkey is one of the most famous in the Bible. Balaam was being paid by the enemies of Israel the chosen people as they were settling their promised land. However the angel of the Lord made himself visible to the donkey and even made it speak to Balaam, that it hated him whipping him. Then the Angel of the Lord, maybe, the preincarnate Jesus Christ, appeared to the prophet Balaam and told him the chosen people were on a mission from God through Abraham and he should not curse them but instead bless them with success and abundance. They were near the Walls of Jericho. This religion of Baalism was the religion of Canaan God called the Prophets Elijah and Elisha to put a stop too. Once again, if this religion had spread from the Middle East out into the world as a world religion, it would have produced a nightmare for humanity. In the age before the return of Jesus Christ we are warned by Jesus that false prophet and false Messiahs will be spreading false religion again. Will it rival that of Baalism? We will just have to see. Will it be worse? That would be our best guess since it will be Satan’s last stand-last attack on the Kingdom of God. As to the warnings of trouble prior to the return of Jesus Christ, we hear from the Apostle Paul’s friend and student, Timothy, about the falling away from the faith at that time. Remember that the devil is watching the same signs as we were told to watch for in regard to the return of the Lord. So when the devil sees these signs he is going to take action against the church. He will try to mislead people with teachings that look and sound powerful and beneficial, but which in reality do nothing to help a person walk in the footsteps of Christ. We see these deceptive religious practices in 1 Timothy 4:1-2. So with Moses and his right hand man, Joshua, the chosen people began to settle their promised and. They were being sent into Canaan to replace the tribes of people who had turned away from the worship of God to a corrupt religion God was bringing to an end through the chosen people. We see these people and the fate that awaited them recorded in Deuteronomy 7:2-5. The Canaanites the chosen people were being sent to destroy were totally degenerate people. To start with, your sons and daughters could work at the temples of the gods as temple prostitutes. Apparently they could honor and achieve oneness with that god they were honoring. Sex with whoever at the temple was apparently a very acceptable way of honoring the gods Baal and Ashtoreth. Idols of the supposed gods appeared to be everywhere to be used or revered as you felt led to.
