The Earth Responds The earth resonates with sound released on nature's doorstep. The bellow of an elk in rut, The rustle of leaves on a windy day, Waves upon the ocean as they ebb and flow, The crack of thunder on a stormy night, The rumble of ice travailing through water, Bird song at first light, The crackle of fire as it consumes Those things unheard by human ear, The flutter of wings as birds take flight, The stillness of a summer day, Rain glancing off a metal roof, Flags unfurled on winter morn, The sound of silence in snowfall, The song of crickets in repose, The rhythm of the human heart as it aligns with Yah. The earth responds. The voice of the sparrow differs from the nightingale but each declares its purpose. Harmonizing with earth's tremolo Calling back the remnants of Voices silenced by time. We stand in awe and wonder Releasing our sound In harmony with creation's song. The earth responds.

About the Author
Monica Wilhite is an ordained minister who holds an MEd from the University of Texas, a Master’s Degree in Practical Ministry from Wagner University, and a Certification in the Christian Healing Program from Global Awakening. She taught elementary school for twenty-five-years, has three adult sons and four grandchildren, and resides in Georgetown, Texas.
