At last Alcatraz spoke. “I have a proposition for you, James,” he started. You will be allowed to have your crew, and your child, freed if you will agree to work for me for three months; after which your crimes will be erased from your record and you will be a free man. You will be our ‘test subject’ in a new reformation program that my men and I have put together. I desperately need someone, anyone, to save my country from the man known as Henry the Skinner. He’s been terrorizing my people for too long. I want a stop to this.” James could barely believe his luck! True; it wasn’t the best option but things were looking a lot rosier now than earlier. “I accept!” James almost shouted in his joy. Luckily, he caught himself in time and lowered his voice. “I mean,” he said in a quieter voice, “I agree to the terms of our contract.” James then crossed his arms in a business like fashion and shrugged, “I guess you could say that I kind of already got somethin’ for an idea.” “There is an additional codicil, however,” King Alcatraz said, pleased that James had jumped on the contents of the agreement. “During this time, when you aren’t working for me, you will be kept in a cell and monitored 24/7. There will be no visitors without prior authorization. Said permission will be given 24 hours in advance. Once a week, we’ll discuss your progress. While all this is happening, your child will be temporarily sent to a foster family, to be loved and cared for until after you succeed in this program. That is all.”

Christina Rose has always loved pirate stories. She grew up in Reno, Nevada, and as a little girl, she loved watching movies about Peter Pan and Captain Hook. Captain Cooke draws inspiration from those tales, as well as from Captain Jack Sparrow.
