In response to a knock on the door, she opened it, and two robbers entered. The first man had a pistol in his left hand. Helen yelled, “Carl,” with an element of fear. I stepped quickly into the hallway leading to the front door. As my eyes saw the men, the Lord said, “I did not bring you here to get you shot. The gun will not fire.” I could also see the men had close haircuts, which probably indicated off-duty police or soldiers. I continued walking rapidly toward the men as the gun was raised and pointed at me with support from the right arm. The gunman said, “Stick ’em up.” The words came out of my mouth, “You stupid fool. What do you think you are doing?”

About the Author
CARL LUEPNITZ was raised on his family’s farm in Northern Michigan. He finished high school as valedictorian before obtaining his bachelor‘s degree from Michigan State University and master's from the University of Alabama. He is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College. After serving twenty-six years in the Army, he retired a full colonel. Carl served as a missionary for forty years.
