Cala had always been a quiet child, keeping herself on the perimeter of activities, ever the spectator. She had tunnel vision when it came to goals, blocking out everything that might distract her. nothing could stop her reaching the finish line.
Graduating high school at sixteen, she started college mid term, and her first job in an accounting firm. Everyone assumed she was much older judging from her accomplishments and demeanor. Her first stocks were purchased when she was ten, with the help of her Dad, of course. Frugal was her motto; better to wear hand-me-downs and let the money work for you.
When Micah came onto the scene it was no wonder her first reaction was one of disgust. He was loud, boisterous, and insulting. A spoiled rich brat who thought the world was his playground. Friends surrounded him hoping to pick up the crumbs and bask in his limelight.
Her rejection intrigued him, and she became the object of his next conquest. His persistence became a battle of wits and determination. Like oil and water, there seemed little hope of these two ever seeing eye to eye on anything.
Why don't we listen to that little voice inside when it warns us of danger? After three years of contention Micah finally wore her down. Once she agreed to marry him, regret came almost instantly. Determined to keep her vows, life would become just another goal of endurance.

Claudia Buntyn lives in the suburbs of Augusta, Georgia, with her husband, J. D. Buntyn. Growing up in Atlanta, she was the neighborhood child with the wild imagination and imaginary friend.
