Josie and Buster had also noticed Queenie’s strange behavior and were concerned that the male dogs in her company could be a danger to their children and Queenie might not be able to defend them if one or more of the dogs attacked the children. A few days after these concerns were noticed and discussed by Ilene and Jackie’s father and mother, Queenie disappeared. She just didn’t come home for dinner one night. Jackie and Ilene’s hearts were broken. They wondered what they had done to make Queenie mad at them and not love them to the point she would not come home. They thought that Queenie might be somewhere in the neighborhood making a home for her and her new puppies that she might have in eight weeks. For more than two weeks after Queenie disappeared Ilene and Jackie looked and called for Queenie over their entire neighborhood. “Here Queenie, come her Queenie” called Jackie. “Come home Queenie” cried Ilene.

The love of a little boy and a little girl for their dog; the dog’s love for the children; the parent’s love for their children and the dog and about the difficult decisions a parent must make when their children’s safety is of concern.
