The reader is taken on a ride into a emotional Journey through three decades of one woman and her children's darkest moments in their daily lives, surviving and enduring violent and deadly abuse spanning from infancy to adulthood. November 1966, startled and woken by a loud blast, I sat up in my bed looking around. I could hear the sound of many small objects rolling across the bedroom floor in the room, going up under our beds and the crib by the door, as they connected and bunced back off the walls, scattering and rolling again. Rickey, my oldest brother got me and my little brother out of the bed and crib, as we stood holding hands just inside the entrance to our bedroom. Our ages was 5,3, and 2. Confused, and still sleepy, we watched our Father with blood all over the front of him, come down the short hallway with his long gun in his hands we began to cry. He was staggering and cussing, angry, as he tried to free the spent shell that was jammed in the gun. Jerking it back and forth. Turning, and pausing for a moment as looked at us, swaying as he turned heading down the small hallway into the bathroom. Peering out we walked hand in hand to just outside our Mommy and Daddy's bedroom door, We saw our Mommy laying on the bed, unmoving with blood, lots of blood all around her. Rickey let go of our hands as he walked into Mommy's bedroom, disappearing. Terrified, not able to see Rickey any longer, we began crying louder, scared, we slowly moved back to our bedroom door, still holding hands and sobbing. Josephine Blackwell our Mother, was resuscitated three times in the first 72 hours after being shot with a 12-gauge shotgun, a few feet away from her. During one of those times, she was clinically dead for over twenty minutes. She left her body, went to heaven and encountered JESUS. This was the first of three divine encounters with God she experienced from 1966-2000 and the violence and abuse she and her children endured through three decades, from childhood to adulthood.

About the Book
It was the early morning hours of November 8, 1966 as a young mother attempted to calm her drunken husband. Despite her best efforts, he exploded in anger, slapping, punching, and then kicking her. Unable to move, Josephine Blackwell lay bleeding, dazed, and stunned, unaware that the worst was yet to come. As her three children cowered in fear, Josephine’s husband shot her, rendering her without an arm and clinically dead for over twenty minutes where she ultimately encountered Jesus in heaven. Unfortunately, this was only the first of three divine encounters as Josephine and her children endured continued violence and abuse over three decades. In a raw and emotional retelling, Edith Forsythe candidly details her memories of her mother, an ordinary woman with an extraordinary testimony of God’s love and faithfulness. While describing the seemingly endless suffering Josephine was forced to endure at the hands of an abuser, Edith discloses how her mother still managed to teach her children about love, faith, and true forgiveness. Included are newspaper articles and police reports related to the domestic violence incidents as well as family photographs. Love for the Unlovable is the true story of one mother’s experiences as she endured constant abuse at the hands of a husband and father determined to leave lasting scars along a dark path of violence.
About the Author
Edith E. (Blackwell) Forsythe is a Christian, mother, and wife who served in the US Army. She owned and operated a convenience store in Tennessee for seven years, and has worked in the convenient store business for over thirty years. Today she resides with her husband and two German shepherds on twenty acres in Alabama.
