Karsyn’s Path

Karsyn’s thoughts were in a whirl, and she remembered Papa Graham’s story. “It’s true. It’s really true!” A squirrel leapt from a tree and said, “Did you ever doubt it?” “No, no,” said Karsyn, “but this is a little much.” “What’s a little much?” asks the squirrel. “Well, talking to a squirrel is a little odd…” The squirrel snaps back and says, “Well, have you ever tried talking to a squirrel before?” Taken aback, Karsyn stutters, “W..w…well, I guess I never did. The squirrel seemed to be smiling. “You never know until you try. That is the secret to success.” Serious again, the squirrel says, “I saw you on the other side of the brook, and I wondered why you were in the woods. Now my question has been answered – you were looking for the land of Enigami.” He rubbed his paws together. “Now, to make the most of your time here, look within yourself, and ask questions. What would you like to know? Just ask.” Karsyn shrugs her shoulders, thinking about squirrels, and how they are always running up and down trees, jumping from limb to limb…and she blurts out, “How do you ever get anything done?” The squirrel jumps up and runs around in circles. In a rapid and high-pitched voice he repeats over and over again, “When your play is your work, and your work is your play, every day is a play day!” Then, suddenly, he stops, regains his composure, and says, “We are preparing for the future.”
