Cakes I’ve Eaten in Bed or Crumbs I’ve Slept With.

We left my parent’s house and drove back to London, having a very close call on the drive back. It was raining very hard and dark and dreary, a typical English winter night in December. A woman in a car in front of us, suddenly slammed on her brakes and we swerved and spun around a couple of times before finishing up maybe 12 inches from a large tree. I remember we went up the curb sideways and luckily came to a stop before we hit the tree. Silly Cow! What was she doing? I think if I remember correctly, after sitting for ten minutes looking at each other and sighing big breaths of relief, we went for a stiff brandy! We were very lucky, a mini is a small car, and I was really thankful that Dave was a very good driver. I think God had plans for us. It is the night before David is due to leave. I cannot sleep, and the bus garage across the street has a red neon sign in the front of the building that flashes all night and shows through our bedroom window. PLEASE, please don’t let it be morning! Well morning came, and Dave did not want me to go to the airport with him, so we are saying our goodbyes at the top of the stairs on the 3rd floor landing. I am not saying goodbye, I am not saying anything, I am crying too hard. He is Gone!
