The word Paradigm means a pattern, an example, or a model. Shift means a change of direction, a new plan of conduct, or a transfer from one place to another. The Gray family and their descendants changed their paradigm when it became necessary to save lives and improve the lives of others.
The story begins in the Oklahoma Indian Territory with a young girl named Maude. She marries a young man named Thomas Gray in1897. Their youngest son, Louie Gray, wanders America until he finds a place and a job that he loves. Starting as a young man, he gets help from a strange source when major problems arise. He marries his true love and the adventure continues with a paradigm shift, but the puzzling source continues to help him.
The story continues with the life of Louie’s son, Jim Gray, who was born in 1942. Jim wonders if the death of his son in 1986 can be prevented. He endeavors to change the hands of time and history to prevent murder, revenge, and intrigue. Jim Gray and his friend Doc Hopper attempt to save a loved one and influence others for the good of the country. The effect of their effort brings a paradigm shift that changes past events.
The descendants of Jim Gray and his friend Doc Hopper live in a Utopian world ruled by a mysterious government in the year 2154. The system keeps the people complacent by providing them with education, jobs, food, shelter, and entertainment. Human imperfections and illness are a thing of the past. Young Patty Gray and boyfriend Bill Hopper are content with their present world and eager to live just as their parents did, but find that there is more to life than they have been told. They visit an abandoned family farm and discover the source of the strange and puzzling help used by those who lived there before them. Patty and Bill find the natural way to live and reach others with the news of faith and freedom.

In this novel, the descendants of a family line, influenced by mysterious sources, seek to change their direction in the past and future in order to improve their lives and those of others.
About the Author
Michael T. Gracey was an editor and writer for a university magazine and has written and presented papers in a variety of locations around North America. This is his tenth published novel. He lives with his wife, Beverly, in East Texas, where he continues to write novels, short stories, and articles for the local paper.
