Many people have visited our shelter today. I am so happy seeing all the different faces. A nice lady is here looking in all our cages. She is talking to Penny, and Penny is telling her all about us. The nice lady smells just like roses, and radishes, and rutabaga. I love rutabaga!. She smells like something else, too, something very familiar and comforting, but I am not sure what it could be.
Here she comes! Oh my! I am so excited! She is looking at Bruno. I am next! I am next! Nice Lady and Penny have a conversation about Bruno. I am starting to get a little nervous, because Penny and Nice Lady are starting to spend too much time at Bruno’s cage.
All the while, I have been performing my adoption dance - spinning, twirling, climbing, SPEAKING, wagging, wiggling letting Nice Lady know just how much I love her.
Finally. Nice Lady is standing in front of my cage. Oh boy! Oh my! This is my chance! This is so exciting! Nice Lady is looking at me! Penny is telling her what a good dog I am. “Yes, I am! I am a very good dog!” Yes! Yes! Nice lady is talking to me. I can hear her talking, but I am so excited I can not understand what she is saying.

About the Book
Timmy Gets Adopted is about a lost puppy who is rescued by Mike. Mike brings a starving, soaking wet Timmy to The Shelter for Rescued Animals. Timmy immediately falls in love with Penny when she gives him a warm bowl of puppy stew. Penny, with an army of volunteers, takes care of all the animals. Penny has an extra special gift. She can understand the animals when they talk to each other! And although Timmy loves Penny, he hopes every day someone special will come to the shelter and adopt him.

Emily Edwards has rescued lost dogs, lonely cats, wayward birds, slow moving turtles from tire treads, and aided the occasional human. She writes fiction and lives in Florida.
