About the Book

In 1978, high school senior Bobby decides to skip class with his wealthy buddy Rich. It turns out it’s both of their birthdays, so the boys see no point in going to school when they can party down on Dana Point instead. Rich’s grandmother has a mansion there, and the old lady’s been known to throw some awesome parties. Today is no exception.

Ninety-year-old Greta Jane welcomes their arrival, and so begins a day of decadence and adventure. Young Bobby has visions of beautiful women and drugs, but what he finds is an unfamiliar world of affluence, intrigue, and bizarre fetishes. He grows up fast, embracing the “finer” things in life with troublemaker Rich by his side.

Soon, Bobby finds himself having a bit too much fun. Things quickly spiral out of control, and a day of birthday ditching threatens to turn downright deviant. Still, Bobby convinces himself that he’s a man now; he can handle whatever life throws his way. They skipped school to enjoy a day of freedom, but both boys get a whole lot more than they expected.
