Chapter 7

She was out by her special side of the patio during the music part of the show. The side that she used to sit and watch the sunsets with Richard, when they first moved out west and he was up on top. Greta Jane Lyancing misses him so, they’d had some of the most wonderful times. She’s been widowed for so long now, and could never take another man, so she has these parties, some for charity, and some like tonight.

Parties are one of the only things that are any fun to her anymore. This is the beginning of the fun time of the year for Greta, and it is just going to be splendid this year she sits dreaming. “Just splendid,” Greta whispers out to the night, watching the twinkling of the stars in the sky.

At eighty-nine going on ninety Greta looks like she is sixty tops. She's never had a drink, and she’s never smoked. She’s always taken good care of herself. You see, she has a thing for the finer things in life, and vice is the least of what to Greta would be fine. She doesn't care that people do the drugs and the drinking and the sex. No not one bit. It’s just not for her. It’s not her thing. She’s happy just to have these parties, of course when she has the time between the charities and the corporation. She really is quite the busy body. Yeah ninety, it’s only a number as far as Greta is concerned. Everyone else can and are the ones making a big deal out of it. Greta who has never been sick a day in her life, is just up to have some fun. Looking things over it looks like it’s going to be a fun season already to Greta Jane Lyancing. Real fun, she thought.

Greta looking over to the party now slowing down a little, she dreams of the parties of years past. Bobby and Luna walk past Greta without even noticing her, they are so far up each other’s junk.

“Nice to see that people still know how to have a good time this evening,” Greta says to no one in particular. She just loves to see the happiness in a person’s eyes. Bobby and Luna certainly look happy, she thought.

She then walks slowly through the goings on by the pool, and takes it all in before going inside the mansion and off to bed. There's going to be a plenty of good times. She’s already dreaming of the fun&games that always accompany these parties. Especially a 90th birthday party, oh how fun, how fun, she fell asleep.

There are people everywhere. The poolhouse is like a mad house of sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Only thing is, all the rock has lost its roll. By seven-thirty the next morning, some of the guest are starting to get up, and rush off to wherever it is they forgot about all night that they had to be today.

The fog clearing quickly, and the staff already cleaning up the outside, Bobby comes to. He looks around and to him this is some kind of crazy dream anyways, so he doze’s a second time.

Having been to first base and around to home, on a double header, Bobby is pretty spent. Then of course reality sets in, and he comes to his senses with the light of day reminding him of the good times of the night before. “Awe,” he mutters out weakly looking around now and fully awake. Well as fully awake as one could expect under the current circumstances. He lets out with a quiet yell, “FUCK what time is it?” Looking around, he could see that he had passed out some time ago. He starts wondering about Luna, she must have gone off to bed after he pooped out. I’d better start thinking logically, he thought. He'd better get home fast, or last-night would be his first and last star performance. His dad would lock him up for this. No worse than that, it would be a military school for the shit that had went on last-night. He would never be seen again.

It’s time to get going, Bobby thought. He couldn't miss school and blow it now. So, he gets to the phone in the pool house, and dials up Dave, hoping Dave is even working at seven-thirty in the morning. He also will call the school, and tell them that he is coming in, but that he will just be a little late, he’ll give them some excuse, is the plan. They’ll buy anything from him of course. He’s a top honor roll student, for all intent and purposes, calling in is just the thing they would expect, Bobby knows.

He'll have to make it through the day and get home to sleep though he is aware of. He is going to have the worst headache he's ever had, and he just knows it, it’s already started too. A good night’s sleep is almost all he can think of as he listens to the bell ringing in his head waiting for Dave to pick.

Dave picks up the phone on the seventh ring, “Cab,” he answers.

“Dave, is that you?” Bobby asks.

“Well hell yes it’s me, this is my phone. Let me check. Yeah, it’s me. Now who in the hell's a calling me at this time in the morning? I don't start till eight. Haven't even had my coffee yet. Don't tell me I'm not going to have my breakfast either, because there's some where’s you have to be right now and you’re late.”

“Dave it’s me, Bobby, and I, I'm late! Will you help me?” Bobby asks Dave excitedly.

“I'm on my way son,” Dave answers Bobby back.
