My name is Andy Duncan and this is my story about how I became a true legend and what it means to play and win, at the game of 16-win-by-two. Sixteen-win-by-two is the name of the game where I made my name and this game has become a major influence on my adult life.
If you have never heard of “Sixteen-win-by-Two”, it is a game of basketball and game of life and sometimes death. Playing this game is not an easy game, but for me it has become a life-long passion… Playing basketball games over and over again for many, many years becomes a game of pursuit, one which must be worked in around your job, your overall abilities, you age as you get older and you try to keep on playing and others around you are dying, or they can no longer play due to injuries and you start to get some of those same injuries and they can affect you too…
You need to know, because I know many of you will ask, what is it that you are really doing???
Playing outdoor basketball is the answer and you are playing a game or series of games and the winner is the one that gets to 16 points first and you must win each game by at least two points and the basketball is not over until you have reached at least sixteen points and you won by two or more points…
Most all of the games are played on outdoor courts and that is only way to go. The Andy Duncan people are outside/outdoor basketball people and I don’t put much stock into playing competitive basketball inside, although I have played a few games indoors over the years…
These 16-win-by-two games go on your entire life, or until you can longer move and you are always looking to go to 16 points as you stopping point, but on some days you will stop a series of games early, due to darkness or extreme cold weather, but if it is Sunday, you will be out there in Rain, Snow, Sleet, Heat, Wind, I mean in all elements you will be playing basketball because you have a love for the game and as long as you can play it and find someone you can beat or somebody who thinks they can beat you, “Game On” and you are playing basketball and looking to be the first player to get to 16 points and you will win by two or more, because that is the law in the unwritten book of rules that we all must live by…
And now you are wondering how did I get started playing these games of 16-win-by-two basketball every Sunday afternoon for over 35 years…..All I have to say here is let’s go find out…..

Durham was a high school teacher and coach at Vandalia Christian School in Greensboro, North Carolina from 1980-1986, coaching soccer, basketball, volleyball, softball and cross-country. His team finished second in the state in girls basketball in 1986 and Durham was named Softball Coach of the Year in 85-86…
