A Broadway Lullaby by T.O. The moon shone like a luminous lemon, sliced against the black night, With sparkles bursting in a cocktail fantasy of black and white. A blue autumnal breeze hustled through the row to the clap and tap Go on Broadway, where the stage was set for an intermittent rap. Through the darkness of despair and the bright lights of New York City Strode a man with upright gait and a posture not pouting pity. Down the line he moved, with his ashen heels revealed from worn-down shoes, Past the sidewalk venders and cash money spenders; he cried no blues. Into the hubbub of the night, he ambled on without respite. No song and dance, this act of his, just onward still to Broadway light.

About the Book
Expressions Through the Years is a selected collection of poems and short stories written by the author over many years. They express his thoughts on given family members and on observations made as life has been lived. The volume begins with a thoughtful, penetrating and deeply moving poem, “An Ode to the Great God Pan,” dedicated to his Uncle J. D. The author draws upon his fascination with Greek and African mythology in depicting images of strength, greed, weakness, and vulnerability as the main figure in the poem lives through his experiences. A number of the poems are written as the author reflects on the unique qualities of family members and his reflections of the beauty of nature. The short stories are diametrically opposed to each other in both form and content. One depicts the harshness of life lived in urban cities and how one can easily get caught up in a web of destruction. Whereas, the second story illuminates a theme dealing with the softer side of life as the protagonist observes nature and the other creatures that share this universe. Initially, although the works of this volume were basically written for the writer’s own indulgence with language, he has eventually wanted to share these works with others. Being a New Yorker, the works within often echo the sounds, sights, and rich aura of the urban experience.
About the Author
Tyrone Oree is a writer of both short stories and poetry and aims to share the beautiful sound of the language with his reader through his works. He is both bold in setting forth his ideas and at the same time lyrical. The pieces in this selected collection of his works span over years of reflection and on pondering life’s gifts. Ty’s creative interests go beyond the written word to that of photography. One of his poems contained within is accompanied by a warm and captivating sunset he photographed in a park as he communed with the natural beauty of its surroundings.
