Some summer nights we sneak down to the Chestnut Street Pool and take a swim. There was a night watchman (Larry the Cop). Most of the time he slept in the guard shack. If we made too much noise and woke him up, he would yell at us to keep the noise down and go back to sleep. Larry was cool. Every once in a while the City Police would sneak up on us and run us off. Since we were skinny dipping it was a real challenge to run and get your clothes on at the same time. I don't know of anyone ever getting caught. But it sure put a scare in us.

Life in Erie, PA’s Fourth Ward during the 1940s and 1950s reflected pretty much the way the country was in general. This book is about those times.
About the Author
Born in Erie, PA in 1940 Mr. Holmstrom grew up in an era where the country was just coming out of a deep economic depression and heading into a world war. He felt a need to write about life in those times, the family, the neighborhood, the people. The way he remembered those times. Not something you would find in your history books.
