About the Book
Charles Paige Choate’s story begins in January of 1925 in Baywood, Virginia, a town just eight miles west of Galax, his hometown. In From Baywood to Broadway, he presents an honest and nostalgic memoir of his bucolic life growing up with his large family, graduating from high school in 1942 in a class of fifty-one students. Choate shares the details of his family, his childhood, growing up on the farm, his service in World War II, his travels abroad, and how he started his own family after meeting Louise, the love of his life. With touching personal reflections and engaging stories, he offers a look at his family history and gives a window into his and his family’s life. A testament to a life well-lived, From Baywood to Broadway narrates one man’s story while providing insight into all of the changes and transitions the world has witnessed since his birth in 1925.
About the Author
Charles Paige Choate turned ninety-three in January of 2018. He has two grown children, four grandsons, and five great-grandchildren. He attends Snellville United Methodist Church where he and his wife, Louise, held leadership positions for many years. Choate lives in Grayson, Georgia, and notes the irony of being born in Grayson County, Virginia, in 1925.
