Psalm 23:1-4, “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
If the Lord is your Shepherd, then you have nothing to worry about when you enter into dark valleys and when trouble arrives. He knows how to protect you from the temptations of the enemy by the use of His rod to fend off the intruder. He also knows how to bring you back when we have wondered off by the use of his staff. He knows how to apply the healing ointment to the sickness you struggle with, by His wounds we were healed. He knows how to restore your soul from the effect of stress, by leading you to the still waters. He knows how to feed you, by taking you to the green grass. When you can’t move in your own strength, He carries you as He carried the children of Israel on eagle’s wings.
Just as much as He leads you in the path of righteousness, He will also be your guide through the valley of the shadow of death. Through the good times and bad, the good Shepherd promises to remain by your side through it all.
Today’s Challenge: Jesus is the good Shepherd. He is leading you through this dark valley, you are not meant to lull around here, His intent is to bring you to other side. The lessons you will learn and the time you spend with the Shepherd here will be priceless and useful in your future walk with Him. Don’t rush to the other side of the valley and don’t say, “Why me?” But ask, “Lord, what do you want to show me?” Don’t say, “I can’t do it anymore.” But proclaim, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

Hope through the valley is a thirty-day devotional that will encourage, strengthen, and challenge you in the scriptures as you face difficulties in life. You will have the opportunity to “do” what the scriptures instruct. Anyone can read or hear the word and most will go about their day and forget all about it, but putting the word into action takes strength, faith, hope and purpose. James 1:22-24, “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.”
Understand that this trial is not in your life to ruin you, its here to instruct, challenge and grow you. Romans 5:3-4, “And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
In reading Hope through the valley for thirty days my prayer is that you will be impacted by the love and grace of God, reignited in your faith, strengthened by the mighty hand of God, and that you will find a new perspective of your situation as you pray and do the word.
