Sweetheart Stops the Bullies

One evening, Sweetheart returned from a grassy patch,

To Camp Can Do filled with children who loved his charm,

As he drew near, he heard noise and words meant to harm.

The pony trotted faster, to see what was the matter,

And what caused the chaos and troubled chatter.

What an unpleasant sight, his horse friends in the act to catch.

They were hurling insults at Bob, the new horse in town.

“Hey, One Eye,” an old stallion taunted.

Bob retreated to the back of his stall, feeling haunted.

Another called, “What’s hiding under your eye patch?

You’re so ugly, you will not a filly catch.”

Bob hung his head, his feelings were down.

Sweetheart stomped his hooves, “Stop it!” he insisted.

“What you’re saying isn’t kind.

What are you thinking, in your mind?”

The stable of horses, stopped their harsh calling,

But laughed so loud, the hurt left Bob’s spirit falling.

Their actions so cruel, Bob’s good eye misted.

Sweetheart peered into the sad horse’s stall.

“Hi Bob, I stopped by to welcome you.”

Bob hid in his corner. He didn’t know what to do.

But Sweetheart persisted, with his well-intentioned bid.

He coaxed Bob to move from where he hid.

“I’d like to be your friend,” he continued to call.

Secretly, Bob was delighted with Sweetheart’s kind act.

“Thank you, I could use a friendly face, that’s for sure.

It’s nice you stopped by,” Bob said, “Your smile is my cure.”

Sweetheart sniffed Bob’s muzzle, a horse’s way to greet.

And replied, “It is an honor, you to meet.”

The two of them decided to make a pact.
