Mr. Littlebear stood up and began to speak. “You don’t know how much this means to Billy’s mother and me, and we both want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.” He hesitated for a minute and the team could see he was getting choked up, but he quickly regained his composure and began to read his notes from a piece of paper. “Billy left home around 6 A.M. on Saturday, June 2nd. He told us he was going to Canada fishing and would be gone for one week. He was driving his Jeep Wrangler and had his dog, Kota, with him. He named the dog Kota because we are descendants of the Lakota Indian tribe. I contacted customs border patrol and was told he and Kota crossed into Canada through International Falls, Minnesota at 7:07 P.M. that night. Tomorrow it will be four weeks since he crossed into Canada. I checked with his credit card company, and was told he bought gas and some groceries at a convenience store in Vermillion Bay, Canada on Sunday, June 3rd. That is the only purchase on his credit card and at this time, the only location we can prove that he was at. Billy didn’t trust credit cards and seldom used them. I’m sure he took plenty of cash with him so he wouldn’t have to use his credit card.”

About the Book
Jim is an army veteran who has only been retired for six months when he receives a shocking call from Samuel Littlebear, the father of one of his former combat team members. Samuel’s son, Billy, is two weeks late returning from a Canadian fishing trip and he asks Jim’s help in finding him. Without the name of the camp ground or the lake where Billy might be fishing, Jim contacts seven former team members to assist with the monumental task of tracking down Billy somewhere within Canada’s thousands of miles of vast wilderness.
Customs shows that Billy entered Canada, but never returned back into the United States. After Canadian officials fail to locate Billy or his vehicle, Jim and his team gather as much information as they can and leave for Canada. With instructions from Billy’s father to bring him home dead or alive, the men know their mission will be difficult. As they head north and pledge not to leave Canada until they find their military brother, none of the men have any idea they are about to uncover a dark plot that will change everything.
In this gripping mystery, a retired elite army combat team travels into Canada to search for a former team member after he goes missing during a fishing trip.
About the Author
After graduating from Ogden, Iowa High School in 1971, Brian Oeffner did two years in the United States Army as a medic and was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 8th U.S. Cavalry in Mannheim, Germany. Upon his discharge in November of 1973, Brian attended the Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, Iowa and received an Associates of Arts Degree in May of 1976. He then started classes at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa that fall and joined the Army R.O.T.C. program. Brian graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 1979 and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army. Brian's branch was Infantry, and he joined the Iowa Army National Guard in Boone, Iowa a short time later. Brian did many years in the Iowa Army National Guard before retiring in December of 2011 with over 37 years of military service. In February of 2012, Brian volunteered for a one-year tour to Afghanistan as a Department of Defense civilian and was stationed at Camp Phoenix in Kabul. Brian returned home from Afghanistan in March of 2013 and now works part-time as a school bus driver and trainer in Johnston, Iowa. The Hunt for Billy Jack is his first book.
